Sharjah24: Dr. Salem Al-Doubi, who serves as the head of the preaching section at the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, offers an interpretation of select Quranic verses used in the auspicious month of Ramadan. This takes place within the framework of the religious programme "Noor Al-Quran," airing every Monday and Wednesday weekly.
In the initial edition of his Ramadan series, disseminated on the "Sharjah 24" website and various social media platforms, Dr. Al-Doubi delved into the verse where Allah states: "O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, that you may attain righteousness."

In elucidating this verse, Al-Doubi underscored the obligatory nature of fasting, emphasising the underlying purpose and objective of this religious duty—to cultivate piety. He emphasised the significance of adhering to Allah's commandments and refraining from prohibited actions. By doing so, individuals can genuinely embody the essence of fasting, maintaining this practice not solely during Ramadan but consistently throughout the year to realise the profound purpose of devoted worship. Allah's mention of the wisdom behind the legitimacy of fasting—"that you may attain righteousness"—underscores that fasting is a significant pathway to achieving piety, as it involves compliance with Allah's directives and avoidance of His prohibitions.
