Sharjah 24: This year, Xposure International Photography Festival, promises to be a feast for the senses, featuring not only captivating exhibitions by leading photographers, but also engaging book signing events and thought-provoking film screenings.
The popular bookseller Kinokuniya has set up a dedicated space for book lovers at Xposure 2024, allowing visitors to meet their favourite authors and make a personal connection with them at the book signing events. On Thursday, renowned wildlife photographer Joachim Schmeisser interacted with visitors and signed copies of his books, Elephants in Heaven and Last of Their Kind.

Schmeisser’s work is not only a visual treat but also a call to action for the conservation of orphaned elephants, the majestic creatures of the wild. The signing event offered attendees a chance to delve deeper into Schmeisser's impactful narratives.

“This is the best exhibition I have ever attended. It is an outstanding event with so much attention to detail in terms of print quality, the space allocated and the organisation on the whole. I am very happy to be here and meet the audience and sign my books for them,” Schmeisser said.

Another famous author who enriched the visitors’ experience with a book signing event was Jean-Michel Lenoir. He presented his books, Elements and Evanescence, which essentially take the readers on a visual journey through the natural landscapes of Europe. His exploration of the essential aspects of nature is complemented by the ethereal beauty captured in "Evanescence."

Xposure 2024 is the biggest edition of the exhibition yet with its expanded scope of the expression of art. Over the next few days, many such interactions and book signing events will be taking place at this exhibition.

Besides the dedicated corner for book lovers, the festival this year also has a special section for film lovers. Xposure2024 is featuring a curated selection of 27 short and long documentaries, which are being screened during the first three days of the event. The films cover a wide range of themes, from human resilience and environmental conservation to the impact of climate change.

On day two, the Cinema at Xposure 2024 featured six documentaries on varied subjects for the visiting audience. The first one was KarakoRun, a documentary portraying the extraordinary challenge of a Polish runner attempting to run 1,000 km through the challenging terrains of northern Pakistan to help children beat cancer. "The Heat Of Change," on the other hand, focused on climate challenges faced by Africa, showcasing diverse narratives and inspiring actions taken by African communities to combat climate change.

Visitors also enjoyed watching “Culture Vs War", a documentary highlighting the work of Ukrainian military photographers Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberov; “The Guardian Angel of Guatemala”, “Tone”, and “!Aitsa”.

Besides the screenings, there are 26 cinematic experiences to be enjoyed too, including talks and panel discussions by renowned filmmakers.

The festival has emerged as a multisensory celebration of art, literature, and cinema, bringing together the world's most talented photographers, authors, and filmmakers under one roof. The perfect weekend getaway for art and culture enthusiasts across the UAE.
