Sharjah24: The Sharjah Men's Handball team won the Union Handball Cup, launching the start of the 2023–2024 athletic season. The players defeated the Mleiha team in the game with a score of 24–16. The game was held at the Sharjah Sports Club in the emirate on Saturday night.

The match was attended by His Excellency Nabil Ashour, President of the Emirates Handball Federation, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, His Excellency Muhammad Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, and His Excellency Muhammad Obaid Al Hasan, Member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Club and Head of the Group Games Department.

In an initiative by the two clubs, the players of the two teams carried a message of thanks, appreciation and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, lauding His Highness’ unlimited support for sports and athletes, and praising his follow-up and directives to enhance sports in the smiling emirate.
