Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today received Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, and his delegation currently visiting the UAE.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of enhancing the existing parliamentary cooperation between the UAE and China, aimed at fostering their partnership in legislative matters.

They also affirmed that the two countries have a long-standing and strategic relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.

At the start of the meeting, Ghobash greeted Zhao and congratulated him on his election as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.

Ghobash then expressed the greetings and good wishes of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Xi Jinping, President of China.

The two sides also lauded the outcomes of the mutual visits of senior officials from the two countries, which reflected their close relations and culminated with the signing of several cooperation agreements between the two countries aimed at boosting their strategic partnership.
