Sharjah 24: Sheikh Dr. Salem Al Doubi, Head of the Preaching Section at the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah, explained, in the ninth episode of the religious programme “Ramadan Sermons” emphasised that Zakat Al Fitr is compulsory upon every self-supporting adult Muslim who has food in excess of their needs, regardless of gender or age.

Dr. Al Doubi’s “Ramadan Sermons” programme is broadcast on “Sharjah 24” website and social media platforms on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every week, during the holy month of Ramadan.

He said: Zakat Al Fitr is not like any other zakat. It is the zakat of bodies, mandatory on the young and the old, on the male and on the female, on the freeman, and on the slave, as it amends the faster’s mistakes or purifies one’s fast from moral contaminants.
