Sharjah24 – AFP: The drought has affected Nomadic herders in the Horn of Africa, as countries including Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya are facing the worst drought in four decades. These extreme weather phenomena are exacerbating, triggering the worst drought in four decades in Ethiopia, where the lack of rain causes the death of livestock and the lack of pastures. The United Nations says that 12 million people in Ethiopia alone now live in a state of "acute food insecurity."
With livestock decimated and livelihoods destroyed, "people's lives are in danger," says a herder.

Commenting on this, Mohammed Hassan Gureh, El Gel village leader said, "I have decided to move from a life of shepherd to a new way of life. I want to start a business even if it is a small business, just to take care of my family."

Another Shepherd added, "I don't know how to do anything other than being a nomadic shepherd. I am not educated and I do not know how to farm, this is the only way I know to survive."
