SCC’s Public Utilities Cmte. reviews SEWA’s projects and services

Sharjah24: The Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security Affairs and Public Utilities Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council met with Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), reviewing its various projects and advanced services.
The meeting was held at SEWA's headquarters as part of the SCC's work for the fourth regular session of the tenth legislative term.

The committee's delegation was headed by Obaid Awad Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee, and Obaid Al Qabid Al Tunaiji, Rapporteur of the Committee.

Obaid Al Qabid Al Tunaiji, indicated that the committee visited the Shared Services Department of SEWA and met with several department directors to discuss various future expansions in SEWA, revealing that the visit aimed to review the services provided by the authority.

During the discussion with the Shared Services Department, the members of the Public Utilities Committee touched on several questions, which included a strategic natural gas line project from Rahmaniyah to Muwailih Commercial, and the number of beneficiaries of natural gas in Sharjah, in addition to the authority's policies in providing university scholarships to Sharjah citizens.

Al Suwaidi confirmed that the authority is keen to join efforts and cooperate with all institutions, bodies, departments, and companies in the country to raise energy efficiency and provide high-quality service.

During the explanation with his assistants, he pointed out that the natural gas services reached about 296,000 beneficiaries, 735 in Khorfakkan and 785in Kalba. Also, the number of beneficiaries of the grants provided by the authority since its launch in 2002 AD reached eleven thousand students.

In response to the inquiries of the Public Utilities Committee, the authority affirmed that it is putting efforts into providing high-quality services and will continue to implement the wise government's vision of improving the infrastructure of essential utilities.
