Salah Hassan: 'country-focused season' focuses on part of Africa

Sharjah 24: Dr. Salah Hassan, Director of the Africa Institute, explained that the third annual conference organised by the institute comes under the title "Thinking the Archipelago: Africa's Indian Ocean Islands"- "Reimagining Mobilities and Immobilities in the Indian Ocean", and will continue until December 17.
Dr. Salah Hassan, Director of the Africa Institute, stated that the third season of the Institute's initiative : 'country-focused season' differs from previous seasons because it focuses on a group of islands or African archipelagos in the Indian Ocean, explaining that there is a shift from focusing on one country to several countries.

Speaking to “Sharjah 24”, Hassan indicated that the aim of this conference is to inform the academic community or the general community, especially the citizens of Sharjah, about this important part of the African continent, adding that this season will reflect these historical relations through seminars and theatrical performances in addition to a trip to reflect to visitors the history of Sharjah and the UAE, with a tour of the archaeological areas in Fujairah and Khorfakkan.
