Sharjah24 – Reuters: Santa lit the traditional Christmas tree with fireworks in front of the Copenhagen City Hall in the Danish capital on Monday (Nov. 28).

A man wearing a Santa costume was lifted up by a firetruck to light the tree and greeted the people at the square who shared the joy.

Many people around the world are getting ready to celebrate Christmas, an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, which is observed primarily on December 25 as both a religious and cultural celebration.

While Catholic and Protestant Churches celebrate Christmas Eve on Dec. 24, the festival is celebrated by Orthodox Churches on Jan. 7.
