UOS Academic Delegation Visits Mexico

Sharjah24: With the aim of strengthening the cooperation relations that link the University of Sharjah (UOS) with many academic universities and institutions in Mexico, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, headed the UOS’s delegation who are currently visiting Mexico, along with Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies , Dr. Amina Al Marzouqi, Assistant Chancellor of Branch Affairs, and Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations. The visit started with attending the inauguration of the UOS’s pavilion at the 36th Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in Mexico, which runs from 26 November until December 4, 2022, as Sharjah has been selected as the Guest of Honor at the FIL. The University’s pavilion showcases a collection of the latest publications for the year 2022, including scientific periodicals and specialized books in the fields of law, Sharia, Islamic studies and others.
The Chancellor of the UOS asserted on the importance of the University’s participation in the activities of the FIL in Mexico, which celebrates the Emirate of Sharjah as Guest of Honor at FIL, pointing out that during the exhibition period, a variety of meetings and cooperation agreements will be held with the University of Guadalajara and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in addition to holding meetings with representatives of the Government of Hidalgo which has strong relations with the UOS.

Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations have visited Anahuac University, one of the largest specialized universities in Mexico, with the aim of exploring ways of academic cooperation. The visit program included a tour around the University’s laboratories and the smart halls of the Colleges of Graduate Studies and the Middle East Center for International Research.

It is noteworthy that the UOS has hosted a number of Mexican delegations during the past two years, aimed at searching ways of cooperation, such as the visit of  the Minister Plenipotentiary of the government of Hidalgo, which paved the way for the signing of the agreement between UOS and the government of Hidalgo in Mexico, as well as the visit of the Mexican ambassador to the country accompanied by a delegation from Mexican universities, during which an invitation was extended to the UOS to participate at FIL. In addition to conducting a numbers of meetings with Mexican universities such as the University of Guadalajara, University of Guanajuato and UNAM, aimed at searching ways of joint cooperation in many fields including the Arabic language teaching, medicine, engineering, space, archaeology and others.
