Sharjah24: Al Hamriyah Municipality (AHM) organised an environment lecture targeting the students of Al Qala’a School of the Ministry of Education in Al Hamriyah in the Emirate of Sharjah, aiming to educate the students on the negative environmental effects of using plastic bags.

The environmental gesture comes in line with the UAE initiative to ban single-use plastic bags, and in implementation of Sharjah Executive Council Resolution No. (24) of 2022 regarding the use of single-use plastic bags and materials in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The lecture briefed the students on the importance of preserving the environment from the risks of pollution and reducing the negative effects resulting from environmentally harmful practices.
The participating children and students benefitted from the awareness messages of the environmental lecture. 

The environmental lecture, which is part of the educational package launched by the Municipality to educate the participants in the Sharjah Summer Camp in cooperation with the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, was followed by an awareness campaign that was held in cooperation with the Sharjah Cooperative Society, in addition to a series of awareness and environmental campaigns aimed at promoting a sustainable life for Al Hamriyah residents.

Asma Saeed Al Muhairi, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Institutional Interaction Department at Al Hamriyah Municipality, stressed that the children participating in the interactive lecture learned about the methods of recycling plastic waste, contributing in raising their awareness about ways to reduce the environmental pollution and harmful emissions, achieving sustainable development of the environment.

Commenting on this, His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality has underscored the importance of this initiative, during which the Municipality sheds lights on the dangers of plastic bags, through adopting various activities that attracted several students, contributing in raising their awareness about the environmental pollutions.
