Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a joint cooperation agreement with Bonuz, a UAE-based Web3 Social Engagement Platform based on blockchain technology, aiming to collaborate in training students from the College of Computing and Informatics at UoS on the state-of-the-art skills and knowledge in Blockchain, Web 3.0 and Metaverse.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Abbes Amira, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, on behalf of the University and by Matthias Mende, Founder and CEO of Bonuz.

Prof. Amira stressed the importance of this collaboration in strengthening the relationship between the university and the industry while providing the students during their internship and before graduation an extraordinary experience on the most recent technologies such as the Blockchain, Metaverse, and the NFTs. Bonuz has already offered internship opportunities to four students, in which they successfully worked on the development of various Metaverse experiences, as well as web interfaces.

For his part, Matthias Mende said: “We are excited and honored to partner with the University of Sharjah and look forward to a long-term collaboration with regards to educating young talents on blockchain-related topics”.

Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Head of Technology Transfer Office added: “The UAE market is inquiring the highest skilled manpower and technology specialist that can partake in the rapid development of UAE economy. Thus, it’s the top priority of the universities to equip their students with the most needed know-how and experiences that the market is expecting. This will increase the employability of UoS’s students once they graduate. According to the agreement, Bonuz will work closely with the UoS to provide hands-on internship opportunities to cover the increasing demand for skilled graduates in Web3, blockchain, and the metaverse in UAE and worldwide”.

For her part, Dr. Manar Abu Taleb, Chair of Research Outreach Department added: “The College of Computing and Informatics is so keen to offer the best internship experience to our students from the industry to gain knowledge on solving real-life and practical problems. This will complement their academic and research education at the university and make them ready to join the marketplace. The feedback from the students with Bonuz was excellent and the students were introduced to the Web 3.0 tools and received their first internship certificates as an NFT (non-fungible token) which represent a proof of ownership lasting forever in the Blockchain records”.
