Comics platform hosts 100 activities at SCRF

Sharjah 24: During the 13th edition of the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF), organised by the Sharjah Book Authority from May 11-22, the comics platform will add more than 100 events, ranging from artistic performances and workshops, presented by a group of pioneers in the art of comics.
The pioneers came from different countries of the world, to share their creative experiences in the world of comics, and to convey their experiences about the foundations of comic writing, its success factors, and the reader's demand for it.

In an interactive session organised by the comics platform during the festival, the famous American film director and illustrator Kyle Balda, director and animator of the famous Minions movie, who participated in several international films, including Jumanj and Toy Story 2, deals with his experience in the world of animation and its modern technologies, and his career with the most prominent cartoon characters that he created over the years.

Through the "Mysterious Detective" workshop, children and young people learn about the basics of writing adopted by the authors of detective stories, the creative methods for choosing their characters and creating heroes from the mysterious detectives who solve the mysteries of the cases. The workshop participants also learn the basics of creating interesting characters that help in the success of the plot of the story and attract its reader.

The "Basics of Comics" workshop, presented by Emirati artists Mohammed Abdeen and Mohammed Al Shaibani, provides visitors with a creative space through which they learn the basics of the dramatic construction of comic books, and methods of using visual language in understanding events, as well as answering many questions about the basic tools needed by fans of this art, to start their own projects, which enable them to generate engaging story ideas that can top sales of this type of literature.
