SCCI receives high-level US delegation to discuss cooperation

Sharjah24: Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently received a high-level US delegation from the southernmost American state of Florida to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and trade exchange, stimulate investments in the vital sectors and help strengthen the UAE-US economic relations.
The United Arab Emirates currently holds the largest share of the total Arab investments in the US markets, which reflected is in the volume of mutual investments between the friendly countries.

The US delegation comprised Michael Udine, Broward County Mayor, Dean Trantalis, Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Wayne Messam, Mayor of Miramare of Florida, and a number of private sector representatives in the state.

The envoys were received by HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, HE Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General for the Communication and Business Sector, and Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department, along with various Chamber officials.

Taking about the meeting, HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, remarked, “By facilitating Emirati and American companies' access to promising opportunities in the two nations' marketplaces, the meeting will help strengthen the UAE-US trade and investment partnership.”

He noted that the value of merchandise trade exchanges between the UAE and the United States experienced a paradigm shift in 2021, reaching 84.5 billion dirhams ($23.03 billion), compared to the 65.43 billion dirhams ($17.8 billion) in 2020.

Al- Owais added that, this clearly reflects the strength of the economic, investment and trade relations between the two countries, which is based on a distinguished model that serves common interests and mutual benefit between the two sides.

In addition, HE Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General of SCCI highlighted Sharjah's economic landscape and its appealing investment advantages, as well as the services provided by the Chamber to companies looking to invest in the emirate. 

Moreover, the American delegation also expressed their hope that the visit would help solidify cooperation between the business communities in Florida and the Emirate of Sharjah, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen economic ties and increase benefits for potential investment opportunities in the US state for Emirati investors.
