SCHS to hold virtual conf people with severe disabilities

Sharjah24: Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), in cooperation with the Hashemite University of Jordan, is organizing the virtual international scientific conference, "Quality of Life for Persons with Severe and Multiple Disabilities".
The conference will be launched on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9, 2022.

Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of the city, will give a speech at the opening of the conference, along with Prof. Fawaz Al Zaboon, President of the Hashemite University of Jordan, and Professor Lee Sang-Mok, Associate Professor at the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Seoul National University, Member of the Korean Academy of Sciences and technology.

Mona Abdulkarim Al Yafei, Director of SCHS, explained that the confrences’s primary objective is raising awareness about the latest developments and medical, educational, and rehabilitative practices for people with severe and multiple disabilities, shedding light on the vital issues related to them, in addition to providing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and proposing solutions to various the issues.

She added that the conference will include seven axes: educational rehabilitation, medical treatment, rights and laws for people with disabilities, empowerment and family guidance, experiences and expertise, supportive technologies, controversial issues, and contemporary trends.

There will be various workshops given on the second day of the conference.

Prof. Dr. Fawaz Al Zeboon stressed that the University is very pleased and eager to cooperate with the SCHS in holding the conference, which indicates the tireless endeavour by the two institutions to contain, advocate and empower the Disabled.

Dr. Fawaz explained that the conference works to improve the quality of life of the Disabled in all areas of life as it is one of their rights and to shed light on the category of severe and multiple disabilities that face several challenges, as this conference is one of the relatively few conferences that are concerned about this category.
