Sharjah Institute for Heritage sees a massive turnout at SIBF

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) concluded its participation in the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which has become the largest exhibition in the world in terms of buying and selling copyrights for the year 2021.
Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s pavilion was characterised by a rich variety of books and new publications, in different fields of cultural heritage, history and anthropology, whereas more than 350 books were displayed.  A number of the Institute’s publications have won awards; moreover, a number of publications topped the bestseller list. 

The award for the best Emirati book (printed in the UAE) in SIBF went to Sakhr Abdullah Ali Saif, for his book “Suhail calculations and Droor calculations”, published by Sharjah Institute for Heritage. The book expresses the authenticity of the past, whereas the writer dives into the Emirati heritage, and highlights how people used to live daily, and highlights in particular the way in which people predict weather conditions by "Al Droor".

Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage said that the Institute is keen to actively participate in SIBF; he added that the Institute pavilion, this year, was distinguished by new publications that won awards, and were added to the list of "best sellers". 

Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam stressed that SIBF has reached a high position in the world, thanks to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which is mainly related to the world of knowledge, culture and science. He added that SIBF is an essential meeting point for writers, publishers, readers and fans of knowledge, culture and heritage, and represents a vital opportunity to exchange knowledge, experiences and expertise in Sharjah, the emirate of culture, heritage, knowledge and science.
