Sharjah24: Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and in the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Kalba, the activities of the first edition of the Kalba Games were launched on Thursday with the participation of dozens of teams and hundreds of athletes.

The opening ceremony of the course was attended by His Excellency Issa Hilal, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, His Excellency Dr. Suleiman Sarhan Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Kalba City, and a crowd of officials and representatives of government departments and entities participating in the games organised by the Sharjah Sports Council in cooperation with the Kalba Sports and Cultural Club.

Abdul Malik Muhammad Jani, Vice-President of the Council and Chairman of the Organising Committee, said that the tournament witnessed the participation of dozens of teams and hundreds of athletes, with remarkable cooperation and interaction from the games federations and many clubs.

In statements to “Sharjah 24”, he explained that the tournament includes 7 beach sports.

He revealed the allocation of valuable prizes to the participants and winners of the tournament's competitions, amounting to about half a million dirhams, expressing his wishes to the participants for success, safety, and the enjoyment of the audience.
