The five entities are Al Qassimi Hospital, Khorfakkan Dentistry Specialised Centre, Kalba Medical Centre, Sharjah Science Museum, and Al Hamriyah Municipality.

The entities received the title after fulfilling more than 80% of the Award’s criteria which focus on 3 main axes including the structural design of the building, distinctive facilities and services, and social empowerment and participation.

Twenty-one entities participated in the second session and only 5 entities met more than 80% of the criteria.

Asma Al Khodari, Director of the SAFC, congratulated the entities that have received the “AgeFriendly Institutions” title, calling on the rest of the institutions to push their limits in order to meet the required criteria. She noted that the initiative is an encouragement for all institutions to adopt the standards of age friendly cities.

The initiative contributes to strengthening Sharjah’s membership in the World Health Organization's global network of age-friendly cities, supporting the strategic plan of the SAFC Programme in highlighting the role of governmental and non-governmental agencies in providing age-friendly services in Sharjah.
