Sharjah 24: Abdullah Al Mehyan, Chairman of the Health Authority, Member of the Executive Council of Sharjah, confirmed that the Emirate of Sharjah has become a role model and a reference for cities that are subject to evaluation in the "Healthy Cities Programme", as Sharjah is the first city in the Middle East and North Africa that has succeeded in meeting the conditions and criteria of the programme.
Al Mehyan praised the efforts of the World Health Organisation to re-evaluate the file of the Emirate of Sharjah within the Healthy Cities Programme, as the first accreditation of the Emirate of Sharjah as a healthy city was in 2015, and this comes through an elaborate strategy drawn by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, Al Mehyan said that the impression of the World Health Organisation’s delegation was good with regard to the visits made by the work team, during which many models and examples were viewed in evaluating any city as a healthy city, and Sharjah is one of the models that can be emulated in other countries and cities.
