Al Jasmi: Kalba slaughterhouse ready to receive sacrifices

Sharjah 24: Kalba Municipality has finished raising the readiness of its slaughterhouse and livestock market as part of its preparations for the blessed Eid Al Adha, and has increased the capacity of the slaughterhouse to 50 animals per hour.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Jasmi, director of health and laboratories department in Kalba Municipality, unveiled preparedness of the livestock and the municipality abattoir to receive people’s sacrifices during the Eid days.

He explained to “Sharjah 24” that the number of staff has been increased to cope up with the increase in sacrifices. He added that the public are not allowed in the abattoir as the municipality has adopted a mechanism to process people’s demands in light of the social distancing in implementation of precautionary and preventive measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.


He indicated that an electronic link was allocated for the public to register their requests, and then receive numbers for the sacrifices. Once the process of slaughtering and cutting of the sacrifice have been completed, the concerned will be notified via SMS to receive their sacrifices without entering the slaughterhouse headquarters.

In conclusion, Al Jasmi noted that the working hours during Eid days start from 7 AM until 7 PM, adding that all sacrifices are subject to medical examination by specialised vets to ensure their safe for slaughter.

Muhammad Ibrahim Al Jasmi, Director of Health and Laboratories Department in the Municipality of Kalba City, revealed the readiness of the livestock market and the municipal slaughterhouse to fulfill the customers’ requests for purchasing, slaughtering and cutting sacrifices during the days of Eid al-Adha.
He explained in statements to Sharjah 24 that after the completion of the slaughterhouse maintenance and preparation, the number of technical staff of veterinarians, butchers and workers was increased, to keep pace with the demand for slaughtering sacrifices, bringing the slaughterhouse capacity to about 50 slaughtered animals per hour.
Al Jasmi announced that the public would not be allowed to enter the slaughterhouse facilities during the Eid days, pointing to the municipality's adoption of a remote work mechanism to complete customers' requests in light of physical distancing in implementation of preventive measures against the Covid-19 virus.
He indicated that an electronic link was allocated for the public to register their requests, and then receive and number the sacrifice, and after the slaughtering and cutting process ends, the customer is notified of the completion of his request via a text message, to receive his sacrifice without entering the slaughterhouse headquarters.
In conclusion, the Director of the Department of Health and Laboratories in the municipality of Kalba noted that the working hours during the days of Eid start from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, adding that all carcasses are subject to a medical examination by specialists from veterinarians in the slaughterhouse to ensure their suitability for slaughter.
