SEWA’s Khorfakkan Department organises Conservation Hour Council

Sharjah24: Within its distinguished efforts to raise environmental awareness and change the consumption patterns, the Khorfakkan Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) organised the virtual Conservation Hour Council as part of its efforts aimed at raising environmental awareness and concerted efforts by government agencies to support community initiatives and promote a culture of conservation, contributing in achieving sustainability and encourage society to change consumption habits.
His Excellency Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and Dr. Rashid Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, and a number of participants from various parties, participated in the activities of the virtual council with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of rationalising consumption and optimal use of energy, shedding light on the Authority’s most important rationalisation initiatives, the most important of which is the rationalisation hour that was launched by the Authority under the guidance and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to be on the 1st of July of each year from 2.30 pm to 3.30, with reviewing the suggestions of the participants to develop the goals and mechanisms for implementing the initiative.

Commenting on this, His Excellency the Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority stressed that the Authority is working according to a clear and deliberate strategy to raise awareness of the importance of rationalising consumption and optimal use of energy, in order to ensure that all customers receive advanced services that save effort and time, in addition to involving all members of society in rationalising consumption by encouraging them to follow a method sustainable life. He also highlighted the importance of such initiative in raising the environmental awareness and change the consumption patterns through different aspects that to support the initiative rationalisation hour. 

For his part, Dr. Rashid Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, confirmed that the Council constantly supports the community initiatives launched by the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority and works to spread them among the people in all areas of the city of Khorfakkan, praising the efforts of the Authority and its distinguished projects in the city of Khorfakkan.

Engineer Ahmed Al Mulla, Director of the Khorfakkan Department, explained that the Conservation Department implemented the plan to attract the largest number of government agencies, companies and individuals to participate in the Conservation Hour activities, aiming at raising the awareness of the community’s segments to adhere to the principles of optimal use of energy and water, and reducing carbon emissions.

Awatif Al-Naqbi, Director of the Environment and Natural Reserves Authority in Khorfakkan, has also underscored the significance of raising awareness about the benefits of adopting environmentally friendly lifestyles among all segments of society.
