CMAS meets with Sharjah Sports Council

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) discussed ways of joint cooperation with the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) within the SSC plans to develop water sports in Sharjah, as well as acquiring the membership of the CMAS through the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club to represent Sharjah. They also discussed ways to improve the games and exchange experiences and proposals.
SSC met with the CMAS delegation at the headquarters of the Council, where His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, Anna Arzhanova, President of the World Underwater Federation, Geoffrey Borg, Executive Director at the International Mind Sports Organisation (IMSA), and Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club.

His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami indicated that the SSC discussed many issues related to the joint cooperation with the International Underwater Sports Federation, which would contribute to enhancing the activities of Sharjah and developing games based on the great capabilities and unlimited support of s Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and follow-up to Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council.

His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami added that CMAS was keen to hold a meeting with the SSC to establish five Olympic training centres for marine sports in the coastal cities of Sharjah, throughout the year.

His Excellency explained that being a member of CMAS through Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, will enrich Sharjah wonderful reputation at the sports level in general and at the water sports level in particular. SSC also received an invitation to attend the World Aquatics Championships.

The delegation of CMAS praised the interest of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his directives to establish Olympic training centres for marine sports, which constitutes a distinctive addition to the value of the game. The delegation also thanked Sharjah Sports Council and the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club for the fruitful meeting held between both sides.
