Sharjah 24 – KUNA: Sudan called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) Tuesday to hold a meeting to discuss developments of the Renaissance Dam that Ethiopia is building on the Blue Nile.
According to the Sudan News Agency, the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Maryam Al-Sadiq AlMahdi, urged the Security Council to hold a session as soon as possible to discuss the Renaissance Dam and its impact on the safety and security of millions of Sudanese.

The Sudanese Foreign Minister called on the Security Council to urge Ethiopia to stop the unilateral filling of the Renaissance Dam, which aggravates the conflict and poses a threat to regional and international security and peace.

The Dam is located on the Blue Nile, 15 km from the Sudanese border. It has a storage capacity of 74 billion cubic meters and is expected to generate about 6,000 megawatts of electricity.
