SEC forms committee to remove encroachments from Mleiha

Sharjah24: Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), on Tuesday, chaired a meeting of the Council at the Sharjah Ruler’s office, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council. The Council issued Resolution No. (14) of 2021 AD regarding the establishment and formation of a special committee to remove the encroachments from the archaeological area of Mleiha.
The council discussed several topics on its agenda in various sectors and plans to develop government services in line with the development in the Emirate of Sharjah. The SEC discusses the emirate’s continuous development plans in all sectors.



The council discussed the report submitted by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) on the activities with strategic impacts in the emirate, highlighting the Department’s role, in cooperation with various competent authorities, to study these activities, as well as their strategic impacts and challenges. The report included a set of recommendations that support economic activities, contributing in promoting the emirate’s position as an ideal environment that attracts more businesses. 



The Council issued Resolution No. (14) of 2021 AD regarding the establishment and formation of a special committee to remove the encroachments from  the archaeological area of Mleiha. The Resolution stipulates the tasks and powers of the committee, to be formed under the chairmanship of the head of the Department of Municipalities, Agriculture and Livestock Affairs, with the membership of representatives from a number of entities.



According to the Resolution, the term of membership in the committee begins from its first meeting and ends with the end of the purpose for which it was formed.The Resolution also classified the committee's terms of reference

The Council also issued Resolution No. (15) of 2021 AD regarding the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, aiming to implement preventive and supervisory measures to ensure the safety and health of the workers in the emirate, preserve property and assets, and reduce accidents;  helps to raise awareness of the risks related to occupational health and safety; as well as enhances the economic competitiveness by ensuring a safe and healthy work environment that attracts investments and competencies.



The Resolution included a set of legal provisions on the powers of the prevention and safety authority, the employer's obligations and the worker's obligations, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the system.

The Resolution also stipulated that a higher committee for occupational safety and health in the emirate would be formed by a decision of the Council, defining its competence, tasks and mechanism of work.



A list of fees, administrative penalties related to this Resolution shall be issued, by a decision of the Council based on the proposal of the Chairman of the committee. The Chairman shall also issue decisions on the manuals and the professional practices , administrative decisions, circulars and the mechanisms necessary to implement the provisions of this Resolution.



The Council reviewed the agenda of the seventeenth meeting of the 2nd ordinary session of the 10th legislative Term of the Sharjah Consultative Council, which will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 AD.
