‘Sharjah Customs', ‘Ports & Borders Security’ improve services

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority discussed with the General Authority of Ports Borders and Free Zones Security, ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in various fields related to upgrading the services provided through the emirate’s ports, in addition to discussing the general situation of border points, and the project of the development plan for the Khatam Al Melaha Border submitted by the General Authority of Ports Borders and Free Zones Security.
This came during a recent meeting between Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwaiti, Director General of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, at the Khatam Al Melaha Border, and was attended by several officials from both sides.

Mohamed Ibrahim Al Raisi welcomed the delegation of the Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, stressing that this meeting comes as part of joint keenness to strengthen and consolidate the frameworks of communication, and to coordinate procedures between the two sides, pointing out that the existing cooperation contributed to a qualitative leap in the field of work in this vital sector through the exchange of experiences and visits, as well as organising training programmes and courses for national cadres, in a way that reflects the spirit of integration and harmony between all concerned authorities, to improve the performance of operations, simplify procedures, develop customer services in implementation of the Sharjah government’s strategy to upgrade the work system in the emirate’s ports in a way that contributes to supporting and strengthening the national economy and developing and facilitating the movement of trade and travelers through constant work to raise the efficiency and readiness of ports and border points at the level of the emirate.

For his part, Mohammed Al Kuwaiti commended the efforts made by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and his keenness to strengthen relations and partnership between the two sides and push them to broader horizons to develop work in all border crossings in the emirate, praising the advanced capabilities in Khatam Al Melaha Border.

At the end of the meeting, the visiting delegation was briefed, through an inspection tour, about the most prominent systems and procedures used at Khatam Al Melaha Border, and they learned about its readiness in implementing the smart ports project. The delegation also hailed the Emiratisation process at the Border, which amounted to 100% in all positions.
