Sharjah24: With the aim of realising its vision for a secure community devoid of risks and achieving its targets for the year 2023, the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority executed 9,000 proactive inspection visits across diverse facilities in the Emirate of Sharjah. These inspections encompassed residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, as well as construction projects, concentrating on the sectors classified as most hazardous according to the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System (OSHJ).
Sheikh Khaled bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Authority's Chairman, underscored the attainment of operational goals for 2023. He emphasised the Authority's endeavours in orchestrating educational inspection campaigns to safeguard the community. Additionally, he highlighted the formation of the "Unified Security and Safety" team as a product of ongoing collaboration with the Sharjah Police General Command. This team focuses on reporting occupational incidents at diverse work sites to implement preventive measures, showcasing the Authority's unwavering commitment to heightening awareness of prevention and safety.

Moreover, over 3,500 trainees received instruction at the Safety Training Institute to enhance the highest safety and health standards in work environments. This involves underscoring the significance of adhering to safety procedures in the workplace, delineating safety and health responsibilities between employers and employees, shedding light on work-related risks, and educating employees on proper preventive measures and reporting workplace accidents.

Concerning infrastructure, around 7,000 safety devices were either installed or renewed in 2023. The objective is to minimise response time to fire incidents in residential and industrial buildings in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Conversely, the Authority delivered over 50 awareness programmes in 2023 targeting various community segments, drawing attendance from more than 6,800 trainees. Among them were 2,000 children participating during Sharjah festivals.
